This week we have a bit of Bullitt insight from across the tiny pond in the UK and zoom in on the fantastic illustrator Matt Blease, who incidentally also rides a Bullitt in London.
Matt is a massive cycling and skateboarding enthusiast who has created design and art for amongst others, Rapha, Patagonia and Vans as well having had his illustrations featured in the illustrious pages of The Guardian and The New York Times. As a long term friend and customer of our great dealer in London, SBC Cycles, Matt took the plunge and got himself a Bullitt a while back and we have really enjoyed seeing his posts revealing a day in the life of a Bullitteer in London... or more specifically: What's in the Bullitt today!?
Matt kindly sent us some images of his typical day with his Bullitt and we think it gives a nice look at the cargo of a Bullitt owner and rider from a fantastic perspective, one that resonates with us at Larry vs Harry as they are our daily transportables too. It's kind of funny how people from across the globe end up utilising their Bullitt depending on their geography, but as it turns out we all have a lot in common in terms of carting cargo about and taking pride in doing it.
We are really thrilled to have such a talented ambassador for the Bullitt out there, riding and actively engaging and communicating his passion and humour through, what we think are pretty incredible illustrations, that are both striking and intelligent. With a background in BMX, and transcending across cycling disciplines to both fixed gear, race and mountain biking, and now riding a cargo bike, Matt's perspective encapsulates the riding spirit and freedom of riding a bike so so well.
So, back to our weekly round of 'what's in the Bullitt!?' and Matt Blease's odds and sods he's been hooning about with of late. If you are interested in more of Matt's work, you can find him on Instagram and Tumblr and can buy both merch and prints he has produced for SBC Cycles and Rapha on their various platforms.
It is somewhat testament to our beloved Bullitt that someone so into riding has chosen one too, and really confirms to us that the Bullitt is, and continues to be the cargo bike for people into bikes. That makes us really happy. Matt is riding a Classic Bullitt equipped with an XT groupset and BBX Sidepanel Kit and Foldable Seat.
Matt's eccentric style really resonates with us here and we really hope we can twist his arm to do some Bullitt swag with us at some point, so look out for that in the future.
