EU Data Act Notice
If you purchase one of our eBullitts, or have an eBullitt serviced, you should know that one of the features of your Shimano STePS drive system is that it collects information about how you are using the drive system while the system is in use.
According to Shimano, your STePS system does not collect personal information about you. It doesn’t know who you are, where you live, what your dog’s name is, or where you’ve been riding your eBullitt.
It does collect information about how the STePS system is being used. This information can be useful when it comes to diagnosing performance issues with your STePS system, or for updating your STePS system.
Your usage data can be sent to Shimano in two situations:
- If you connect your STePS system to Shimano’s E-TUBE mobile app.
- If you bring your eBullitt in for service that requires your STePS system to be connected to a Shimano diagnostic tool.
We do not receive any of the information that your STePS system shares with Shimano when you connect your STePS system to the E-TUBE App on your mobile.
If our mechanics use a Shimano diagnostic tool to help them service your STePS system, then they will be able to access the usage data that the STePS system collects. This information can help them service your eBullitt. If you bring your eBullitt to our flagship store for service we are happy to share that information with you if you’re interested in it. It is in the form of a Service Report that is generated by Shimano. If one of our wonderful Larry vs Harry dealers services your eBullitt, you can ask them for it. Larry vs Harry will not receive it, unless the dealer sends it to us as part of a warranty claim.
Under the EU Data Act, if you are a customer within the EU you have the right to the data that Shimano has collected from your STePS system. You can learn more about the data that Shimano receives from your STePS system, and how you can get that information if you want it, by going to this Shimano webpage: https://bike.shimano.com/information-based-on-the-eu-data-act.html
