What was the problem?
At the time of the recall, we discovered that a bracket located at a critical point in the steering mechanism on some bikes produced during the specified timeframe could fail without warning. A failure of this bracket could result in a complete loss of steering on your Bullitt. That’s why we issued an immediate stop-ride notice for affected bikes until the bracket could be replaced.
What action did Larry vs Harry take?
We launched a service campaign to replace the entire steering arm linkage, including the faulty bracket, on affected Bullitts and spare parts. This was provided at no cost to customers.
Was every Bullitt affected?
No. The issue was limited to bikes and steering arms manufactured or sold between 1 August 2021 and March 2022, due to a manufacturing fault from a supplier. It was not a design flaw, and Bullitts sold outside of this period are not affected. If you are unsure whether your Bullitt falls into this category, you are welcome to contact us for confirmation.
What should I do if I think my Bullitt might be affected?
Although the recall was issued in 2022, it is possible that some affected bikes or parts are still in use. If you purchased your Bullitt or had the steering arm replaced between August 2021 and March 2022, and have not had the bracket replaced, please do not ride the bike until you have checked with a qualified dealer or mechanic.
You can contact your original dealer or reach out to us at info@larryvsharry.com with the following details:
-
Your full name and contact information
-
The frame number of your Bullitt (found underneath the frame, just in front of the bottom bracket)
-
When and where the bike or steering arm was purchased or replaced
-
Contact information for the dealer or mechanic who worked on your bike, if applicable
Can I replace the part myself?
No. The steering arm linkage must be installed by a qualified bike mechanic. Larry vs Harry supplied the replacement parts and covered reasonable labour costs for affected bikes during the recall period.
