Bjørn Harvig has been out on adventures long before we got to know him. He has a way of turning bike rides into encounters – with this knack for getting into conversations everywhere he goes, and for pulling out stories you’d otherwise never hear. Over the years his Bullitt has become a thread between people and places.
He found adventure early. As a teenager, he joined Eventyrernes Klub – first with a broom in his hand, cleaning the meeting room and filling the fridge before the adventurers gathered on Tuesday nights. That room planted the seed, and the journeys followed. Since then, he’s pedaled his way through Eastern Europe, the Balkans, Central Asia and the Middle East.
His curiosity is what ties his books, talks and podcasts together. You can trace it in his book VELO – The Danish World Cyclists and his other work, and in the way he rides with his family today.
Bjørn and his family took their Bullitts to Portugal for four months of adventure. And filmmaker Henrik Kaarsholm followed along with his camera rig.
It’s not about racking up kilometers. It’s about what happens when you choose to travel at a pace where people, places and stories have time to unfold. That’s what Henrik caught on film – and that’s what we’d like to share with you.
