The Bullitt has always been a steady companion for dog owners. What we today call the Canopy, first hit the market under the name “The Dog Cage”. Nicola & Erin took back the canopy to its origins, carrying human’s best friend, sharing the road and turning their daily life into an adventure.
This is the story of Nicola & Erin, told in their own words: a guide from Rome and a labrador, who discovered how far two wheels and four paws could take them.
My name is Nicola and I come from Rome, Italy. I work as a hiking and cycle-touring guide, and for the past few years my life has revolved around the two wheels of my Bullitt: I use it for deliveries around the city. My daily life is a mix of outdoor training – running, climbing, hiking – and adventures shared with Erin, my inseparable Labrador of almost 13 years, who walks beside me at every step, making each day special and unique.
Bullitts first entered my life for work, but it was only when I decided to set out on a long journey with Erin that I discovered their true potential.
During lockdown, my desire for freedom and adventure grew stronger, and North Cape, a destination I had always dreamed of, shifted from a dream into a concrete challenge. When Erin nearly lost her life due to a respiratory crisis, I made the decision that changed everything: she would come with me.
I had no idea how to face such a long trip with a dog, especially since until then I had always traveled alone – never abroad, never for thousands of kilometers.
The solution came in the form of the Bullitt: stable, spacious, and perfect for carrying anything, even Erin. My very first ride wasn’t easy: those first few meters felt endless, between balance and learning the right trajectory. But very soon the bike became part of me, a natural extension of my body and spirit. The joy of seeing Erin relaxed and ready for adventure made every struggle fade away.
The Bullitt has completely transformed the way I experience the city: I can move more sustainably, avoid traffic, and discover hidden corners of Rome I had never noticed before. Every trip has become a shared moment, an experience to live together with Erin, my adventure companion.

The journey from Rome to the North Cape will forever remain etched in my memory. We crossed breathtaking landscapes, met extraordinary people, and collected moments of pure magic: crossing the Alps, our very first night in a tent together, the wild forests of the Czech Republic, the great rivers of Central Europe, the freezing swim in the Baltic Sea, and the Scandinavian sun that never set.

Arriving at the Larry vs Harry Headquarters in Copenhagen was another unforgettable experience: the smiles of the team, their care in checking every detail of my Bullitt, the frames on display. It is not just a shop: it’s a temple of the cargo bike, a place where every enthusiast immediately feels part of a family, a community bound by the same passion.
Even though we weren’t able to complete the trip – we stopped after Stockholm – every single kilometer was special, full of emotions and discoveries. It was the most beautiful journey of my life, a unique and unforgettable experience. I cannot deny that the dream of reaching North Cape with Erin is still alive, but time is running short given her age.
I still hope to share many more adventures with her, and I already dream of 2026, when we will once again pedal across Europe.
