Love Ride - World Pride & Eurogames, Copenhagen 2021
Larry vs Harry is proud to support Copenhagen 2021, celebrating World Pride and the Eurogames and to manifest that support we have created together with the Rainbow Alliance the very limited Love Ride Bullitt.
The Love Ride is is the embodiment of all that we hold dear and stands firmly as a beacon for acceptance and inclusivity. It pays homage to people who suffer discrimination and have to try and justify their place in the world.
We have spent the last decade trying to make a cargo bike that contributes to enabling people to cycle more, and to use the car less. It is a essentially a fight against the status quo that is the vehicle industry, and law makers that continue to prioritise fossil fuel based transport. Copenhagen is a way finder in many ways with regards to cycling and the same rings true for the LGBTQ community… whilst things are in relative terms are good here, there is still a lot of work to be done. There are parallels and points that further contribute to our partnership in the fight for a more accepting society.
Cycling and sport in the broader sense have long had challenges both accepting people from different backgrounds and has a tendency to pigeon hole and categorise in somewhat conservative ways. The Eurogames are an inclusive and all embracing set of events that welcome the whole spectrum of athletes. Graham Obree, the Scottish cyclist, has documented in detail his struggle both with mental health and his acceptance in the sport due to his sexuality. The newly crowned Track World Masters Champion from 2019, Dr Rachel McKinnon also struggles with acceptance in the field and is a shining example of the standard of sporting prowess, but also the constant fight that faces contemporary athletes.
Love Ride is essentially a partnership grounded and based on love and acceptance and an acknowledgement that there is still a huge amount of work to be done.
The mantra for World Pride and Eurogames Copenhagen 2021 is #youareincluded, this resonates beautifully with the Bullitt and we are very proud to present Love Ride.
